Firefly Hawthorn Blouse

I am so in love whit this pattern!
The Hawthorn Blouse has such a figureflattering shape.
I bought 2.5 meter of quilting fabric  on sale at my local quilt shop.
I fell in love whit this fabric when I saw it a few years ago, but never thought
that I would be wearing it my self.
But hey! What do you know!
For this blouse, i drafted the pattern for the 3/4 sleeves.
And I even made cuffs! Thats one more thing to add to my "for the first time"-list.

Offcourse, after the whole day at the office, its all wrinkeled up.

The cuffs! Unfortunately, a bad picture of the details....

I really like the colors off the fabric,  but at the same time I'm a little hesitant about the fact that this is a look that suits me? You know, colors? Haha... I am a sort of a black/white, earthy toned type.

Spring/summer sewing vs. fall/winter sewing

We are in the middle of august, and sadly, this means that summer is soon over.
Summer is the shortest season of the year where i live. A couple of years ago, we had snow from september/october to early mai. That doesnt leave many months for summer!

I have made a few items for my self this spring/summer, like the Garden Party dress from Honig Design,
The Minna Blouse from Salme Patterns, The Mathilda Blouse from Tilly and The Buttons, aswell as her Picnic Blanket skirt, and not to mention: The Hawthorn Dress.

But it is not long until these items will be nicely tucked into the back of my closet,
and my wool longies and fleece jacket (ok, I have actually used them a couple og times this "summer"...) comes out.

The thing is, what do I make for my self now that fall and winter is creeping up?
A girls`gotta stay warm as well as fashionable, right?

Am I insane?

My sisters wedding is coming up in about four weeks,
and as I have mentioned earlier, I am making The Elisalex Dress by

I never could deside on the fabric for this dress, until I saw my cousins curtains.....
Was I really thinking of makeing this dress out of curtains?? Am I that insane?..
But again, I was originally going for a damask pattern, so why not?
These curtains has that, and my cousin was not using them.

Take a look at one of the By Hand Londons Elisalex version:
If you look closely, it is the same pattern! Almost...

So guys, am I insane if I go to a wedding in curtains???
(please say no...)

I have two very interesting things on my agenda....

#1 The Selfish Sewing week!

This is all going on over at Made with Moxie.
I`ll just quote her:

"For just one week, September 23-29, we challenge you to spend at least one houre each day sewing for yourself. Dig up that Swoon quilt you've been meaning to make. Cut up that Heather Ross you've been hording for years. And would you please finally make yourself a Washi dress already? "

I dont know about you guys, but to often I say "yes" to things I dont really wanna do.
For instanse, this past three weeks I have layd up 4 jeans, made a dress into a sweater, sewn in a blouse and decreased the hem on a big and beeeeaaautyfull gown (and I am shure, very expencive!).
All this while thinking; "why am I doing this?? I work 8 hours, five days a week, come home to two children, and at the same time, trying to find some me-time in front of my sewing machine!:... This is it! No more!"
It is all because I am too unselfish i guess. That is why I`m joining Selfish Sewing Week!
And I have the perfect project for it;)

Now, on to #2

This is happening over at The Monthly Stitch.
And this months project is the mysterious cape!
How interesting is that?? I have never had a cape befoure, non the less made one!
For me, the cape has always been a symbol of a great and confident fashionstatement.
I never thought of my self as very confident when it comes to fashion,
not to mention the clothes I make my self. But I think it is about time I did!
So, hopefully in a few weeks I will be strutting around in my newly-sewn cape.

I allready have a pattern in mind, so how about a sneek peek, eyh?
