<div>
But lately I have found the need to blog about my furbishing experiments and finds. Because it is simply amazing what you can make out of a tired and worn out table or dresser. I have gained a lot of inspiration and experience, and just wanting to share with the world what can be made out of so little.</div>
<div>
My main focus is furbishing for less. I want to save money, not spend it. So second-hand and thrifting is the key-words here! It has only one post so far, but I promise, there is ALOT on the drawing board! I have quite a few finnished items to show you:)<br />

So, if you are interested, you are more then welcome to stop by my newly-launched blog<br />

I thought it was a great idea when I bought it, and it still was when it arrived. But then I was like: "can I pull of an entire piece with only this animal print? Would that even work?!" So I just put it aside, waiting for the right pattern or idea to come along.<br />
Eventually, I was more and more surtain that it would work just fine if I only could mix in a little neutral in there. Like black! I had a little left from when I made my second Perri Pullowe (not blogged yet. Have to get to it soon.....). It was just enough for 3/4 arms and the neckline+arm lining.<br />
<br />
This<a href="http://www.itsalwaysautumn.com/2013/9/6/the-easy-tee-the-anthropology-lace-front-version-free-raglan.html" target="_blank"> pattern</a> by the way, is GREAT! Super easy to print and patch up. And you can make it in a million different ways. Go check out <a href="http://www.itsalwaysautumn.com/" target="_blank">"Its Always Autum".</a><br />

<br />
<br />
This is one of those patterns I will make again and again, for shure! The fit is perfect for me! I added a band on the bottom of the shirt so it gives a little extra "hug" around the hips.<br />
<br />
Now, do you think the animal print is "to much"? Or just right? :)<br />

<br />
<br />
Hi everyone!<br />
<br />
Today I want to share another how-to with you!<br />
I was browsing through Pinterest, looking for inspiration for something to make.<br />
Then I came across a pattern for a suuuuper cute beret with the cutest bow!<br />
My experience is that there is a tutorial for allmost everything out there, so I wasnt completely ready to buy a pattern before I had looked into my alternatives.<br />
So..... after a lot of picture-looking, blogbrowsing and some sketching, I came up with a great tutorial.<br />
I sewes it up twice, just so I could try out the differences when it comes to wether you`d want layering around the hat or not. If so, you make the top-hat pattern piece big/ger.<br />
Here goes:<br />
<br />
<br />
First, find youre fabric. It should be semi stiff, and quite stirdy. Wool, fleece and such is great.<br />
I used a typical suit wool. <br />
Now, fold youre fabric double. Find something big and round, like a lid or a casserole. Depending on how big the lid/casserole is, youre beret will be big and poofy or small and suttle. Its all up to you!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZICTyA6DydqOcbksoZlwbWn0dFcXm5C3O5msjgApYgRokUMYiMV3-lk3Wy0etY7uO7r3b04NCSGqcFZ6a6lx7pWbf1K24CfardR448UjXJGw2-WnXMQNQ1gv75Tjol84ahozi8OAcgeM/s1600/20140830_185156.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZICTyA6DydqOcbksoZlwbWn0dFcXm5C3O5msjgApYgRokUMYiMV3-lk3Wy0etY7uO7r3b04NCSGqcFZ6a6lx7pWbf1K24CfardR448UjXJGw2-WnXMQNQ1gv75Tjol84ahozi8OAcgeM/s1600/20140830_185156.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now find something with a smaller radius then the first round thingy you used, and center it untop the one cirkle. REMEMBER to put away one cirkle for later! Allso be shure that the radius you use for the "donut" is not smaller then the head intended for youre beret! This is where your math skills from elementary school comes in. FIY: if I told my math teacher back then that I would not need it for anything else then sewing and pattern making, well.... I think he would give me extra homework.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyvGNBPymrSg3f-eG46kQTrFXw1ouVt5Cb7UzPGdzaBTk_ieIgSrX4ao-JJ6ce2zFvM3sO9abmUjR2zjKIOQdRtJXcGY9kEgRGHclfZ7vC34reOo83jmuopGjNtEkw79QI3z1o2HiEpxM/s1600/20140830_185313.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyvGNBPymrSg3f-eG46kQTrFXw1ouVt5Cb7UzPGdzaBTk_ieIgSrX4ao-JJ6ce2zFvM3sO9abmUjR2zjKIOQdRtJXcGY9kEgRGHclfZ7vC34reOo83jmuopGjNtEkw79QI3z1o2HiEpxM/s1600/20140830_185313.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now you should have these three. The inner cirkle you can just through away.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOf-JqDGXxY73H4Ezshtrn3mq95NVdEXeuQFcr4Q47nQIVOXisui36zWg9jum7i0EofvKTbYzBGhyphenhyphenrGTuySyPAwLom9gJEdVHBAzz6Xx-q-X78ogphuuY1_k7y-pLjx4xj-r5_j_dG-ds/s1600/20140830_190333.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOf-JqDGXxY73H4Ezshtrn3mq95NVdEXeuQFcr4Q47nQIVOXisui36zWg9jum7i0EofvKTbYzBGhyphenhyphenrGTuySyPAwLom9gJEdVHBAzz6Xx-q-X78ogphuuY1_k7y-pLjx4xj-r5_j_dG-ds/s1600/20140830_190333.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up you pin the "donut" to the top hat piece. Sew down all the way around.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsLvPL4DQcO8aWhcg7Kk7YpHueJaOACmijGlo0Y3MkGKX4EDucRLArYFstIRpgETH3jIQh0wWQqtyAYi8XYk9yEsIEtQVm-iribCpTUJPVeQUUY8fqpqhLJH0WOh7M3FJDVxnkQNstIzw/s1600/20140830_191125.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsLvPL4DQcO8aWhcg7Kk7YpHueJaOACmijGlo0Y3MkGKX4EDucRLArYFstIRpgETH3jIQh0wWQqtyAYi8XYk9yEsIEtQVm-iribCpTUJPVeQUUY8fqpqhLJH0WOh7M3FJDVxnkQNstIzw/s1600/20140830_191125.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, more math... Measure the head circumference and cut a square with just that lenght + seam allowance.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When the piece is laying like this, you fold it on half, iron, and then fold in each end again (just like a bias tape) and iron again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGiOsi216iUbbK7SBqBijy7tUDu3wpgT5v4CuheDdNkRVCAtoveEqsSGSRk5WPrT0rXlkgYmtWP5TUs5w2BjDs92N_QTN4TOKCSko0o1JBcrGP8Gfrr6dOdQKmICNxA1Q1up36xX55Ol4/s1600/20140830_190658.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGiOsi216iUbbK7SBqBijy7tUDu3wpgT5v4CuheDdNkRVCAtoveEqsSGSRk5WPrT0rXlkgYmtWP5TUs5w2BjDs92N_QTN4TOKCSko0o1JBcrGP8Gfrr6dOdQKmICNxA1Q1up36xX55Ol4/s1600/20140830_190658.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Like this! Then you fold it over and sew down the short ends.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfX58lu4uS1xCWBdr-5wxxN0Pg6VWcsOt8VZzjZFyHqZ91fiFCCmez5KU6NTY6MREzgtv4gmytGaCGn3G4JEU9e2e8riwtL6Po8HfnbBQIgbuoxJthyphenhyphen_8uJ_kmORFMPrK6QH8BjovAKcM/s1600/20140830_191739.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfX58lu4uS1xCWBdr-5wxxN0Pg6VWcsOt8VZzjZFyHqZ91fiFCCmez5KU6NTY6MREzgtv4gmytGaCGn3G4JEU9e2e8riwtL6Po8HfnbBQIgbuoxJthyphenhyphen_8uJ_kmORFMPrK6QH8BjovAKcM/s1600/20140830_191739.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, you almost cant see it on this picture, but here I have placed the "bias tape" on the inside of the hat, and pinned it down. All you have to do now is stich, fold over to the front/right side of the hat, fold and stitch again. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

The Dress. The one that you got just because you had to have it. Maybe because you had been spying on it at the store, stroking it between your fingers. Trying it on even though you know very well you won`t be buying it because it is just a little to expensive. By the way, where would you wear it? On what occasion would it be suitable? Oh.... if only it was on sale. Then at least you could justify buing it.<br />
<br />
And then!! On day it happens! It`s on sale, and there`s only one left in youre size! It is faith! OFFCOURSE you buy it! What`s to question?<br />
Weeks and months, maybe even years, go by. How many times have you worn it? ones? twice? Or maybe not at all? Did`nt the right opportunity come by? (I told you so!). Maybe by now you`ve stuffed it in a bag for goodwill. Or youre closet has swalloved it?<br />
Dispear not! Because I have JUST the DIY for you!<br />
<br />
You will offcourse need The Dress<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG1ZTMNG2hhuFPabL_OT3Wlr8g0vHtNazQ7CYRDmJ4ACnljYPRub37t3rqWDVTxnvlQa874wRVReEWTSsZX4XOZHIgD7aWAlPL50Kzoe1RIrG2DVyRl7G182ZUO8OF0vGtgA-ywyc7IfA/s1600/diy1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG1ZTMNG2hhuFPabL_OT3Wlr8g0vHtNazQ7CYRDmJ4ACnljYPRub37t3rqWDVTxnvlQa874wRVReEWTSsZX4XOZHIgD7aWAlPL50Kzoe1RIrG2DVyRl7G182ZUO8OF0vGtgA-ywyc7IfA/s1600/diy1.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now, follow these steps:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT00k0Kf6TGGxSyRwlze63e9j0KvoFTXYMAhFKuEaqxjOlq4GFoPeA_86blx7OCk3ZfX_JKOBcBjMLomxUok13yye1wkM36pYrwQ66uLSBmMRpM7FuA9mgerjxFr4dE6XhbLFNnRfRjGg/s1600/20140813_172621.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT00k0Kf6TGGxSyRwlze63e9j0KvoFTXYMAhFKuEaqxjOlq4GFoPeA_86blx7OCk3ZfX_JKOBcBjMLomxUok13yye1wkM36pYrwQ66uLSBmMRpM7FuA9mgerjxFr4dE6XhbLFNnRfRjGg/s1600/20140813_172621.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now, the easiest thing is to use a knit pencil skirt that you allready have, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and just lay it flat on the dress. If you dont have such a skirt, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
you can take a look at <a href="http://www.simplesimonandco.com/2014/04/how-to-sew-a-knit-pencil-skirt-or-at-least-how-i-do-it.html" target="_blank">this </a>tutorial on how to make youre own pattern.<br />
Trace the pattern edges around the exicting skirt, and cut out.<br />
Make sure you have enough seam allowance!<br />
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj91OXnNoORnQdBEeDDAt3RC63bEE06yYRbDqgij5WTEp5HCdDGX2T1dMiteXPP7tgZI2QYr9R6VxToo-M0ENZOucSb6utvvqBsHM-67ZgSrjZo575cUKd3KpZUKS68ZwwVZPJTesM_yOg/s1600/20140813_173525.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj91OXnNoORnQdBEeDDAt3RC63bEE06yYRbDqgij5WTEp5HCdDGX2T1dMiteXPP7tgZI2QYr9R6VxToo-M0ENZOucSb6utvvqBsHM-67ZgSrjZo575cUKd3KpZUKS68ZwwVZPJTesM_yOg/s1600/20140813_173525.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After you have cut the two skirt pieces, staystich the edges.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Try it on to see if it fits. If so, you can now sew permanent stitches.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, here is a GREAT tip!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you are like me and simply love pencil skirts,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
but is not quite comfortable with the tummy hugging ordeal, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
then this is something for you! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love the look that a pencil skirt gives, and I have envied so many women for it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But you see, my stomach is bigger then my (really not that big) chest, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
so I have hesitated about this surtain fashion staple.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But fear no more, because I read this suuuuuuper tip over at <a href="http://www.mesewcrazy.com/2014/08/how-to-add-a-tummy-control-panel-diy.html" target="_blank">The Sewing Rabbit.</a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Jess Abbott made a genius <a href="http://www.mesewcrazy.com/2014/08/how-to-add-a-tummy-control-panel-diy.html" target="_blank">pencil skirt with a tummy control panel!</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
How genius is that???</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, how could I not try that when I first was up to making my very first knit pencil skirt?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did`nt have any power mash available, but I did have a tight lycra nightie that allso was swalloved</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
by my closet, and managed to save....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now you put the "wathever" you want to make the hold-in with,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and lay it over the skirt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now remember you want the hold in skirt to be hugging and tight,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
so you cut it in a size or two smaller then the outer skirt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJwVdvlXqBLgGAoH1Guq9p5SSA7K2__-q4G3KJwyW6J6Fc3LjY5SEzokxeWLTRR-3uHirWhdCKYnJ77vmWSylCb8fnb__m58Q0Ee-q3HaW2cqF0Q-eXcoH1n0xUW6ivzHKFRDXCsazsAE/s1600/20140813_173750.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJwVdvlXqBLgGAoH1Guq9p5SSA7K2__-q4G3KJwyW6J6Fc3LjY5SEzokxeWLTRR-3uHirWhdCKYnJ77vmWSylCb8fnb__m58Q0Ee-q3HaW2cqF0Q-eXcoH1n0xUW6ivzHKFRDXCsazsAE/s1600/20140813_173750.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cut the lycra a few inches shorter then the outer skirt. You dont want it to show under.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl_vvz3ZjTEqAw1FvidT4ySMKKGRp8e0BODAOjjNoR8lmeb9MtwU3oLNt4k2aJZ2qAnjrCez_OUTQNazLujGJ6p4bzCUfdB3_yqI7rYjqOGcMdC8tzFDMTyxcnsSOFeviIpYzrLu83UzE/s1600/20140813_173924.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl_vvz3ZjTEqAw1FvidT4ySMKKGRp8e0BODAOjjNoR8lmeb9MtwU3oLNt4k2aJZ2qAnjrCez_OUTQNazLujGJ6p4bzCUfdB3_yqI7rYjqOGcMdC8tzFDMTyxcnsSOFeviIpYzrLu83UzE/s1600/20140813_173924.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You will need a wide elastic to youre skirts waist.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Try the skirt on and put the elastic around youre waist to figure out</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
how much you need. Remember to keep it tight.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdXXKqgApby-RBl0AK56al-eaOEsSOWXzKHe4QyhNOHqSB1WR7KKu3yxCZYQnD1giO3LBhtN0fy2N1fLF8fsAsjCK_jckFenCxbTK_m_uuP2746uN_Djn5OXPegxIwBORA-_62F6ZnJ9w/s1600/20140813_184523.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdXXKqgApby-RBl0AK56al-eaOEsSOWXzKHe4QyhNOHqSB1WR7KKu3yxCZYQnD1giO3LBhtN0fy2N1fLF8fsAsjCK_jckFenCxbTK_m_uuP2746uN_Djn5OXPegxIwBORA-_62F6ZnJ9w/s1600/20140813_184523.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sew the ends of the elastic together, and fold it around your pencilskirt,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
included the hold in skirt. Pin the elastic on the right side of the skirt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sew it down (again, from the right side).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

I simply realized that I have a big lack of comfortable yet fashionable shirts and tops, now that we are safely heading for summer. I have had the <a href="http://shop.grainlinestudio.com/product/tiny-pocket-tank" target="_blank">Tiny Pocket tank</a> for some weeks now, and desided it was time.<br />
The fabric is bought at <a href="http://fabric.com/">Fabric.com</a>. I was quite surprised by it, as I have never sewn whit rayon challis before. I actually bought several types of fabric just so that I could get familiar with the different types of fabric and fibres. And the rayon challis is soooo soft and lightwaight, but still strong and sturdy, whit a nice drape to it. I had only 1 yard, so I had to use it on a project that did not take more then that.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you look closely you see the bias that I used to bind the neckline and armholes. I only had scraps left, but both colours where the same as the shirt fabric, so that went very well. I allso added about 1,2-2 inches on the bottom lenght. I like my shirts whit a little extra length.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Tiny Pocket Tank is a great basic patter, ment for non-stretch fabric, but I actually made one in a stretch fabric yesterday, and that went very well. But you might want to go down a size.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can see allready now that this is going to be a pattern for many more tops this summer, along whit my <a href="http://trollemors-hverdag.blogspot.no/2014/06/maria-of-denmark-kimono-kirsten-tee.html" target="_blank">Kirsten Kimono Tee</a>.</div>

Until a few days ago, there really wasnt any. So what do you do? Go shopping? Noooo.... (unless its for fabric, of course) I had been searching on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a> for t-shirt patterns, and I came by the <a href="http://blog.mariadenmark.com/?p=875" target="_blank">Kirsten Kimono Tee by Maria Of Denmark</a>. This is a great pattern, plus its free! Whats not great about that?<br />
<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
The shirt has a very comfortable fit, and NO sew-on arms! There`s only two pattern pieces, + the neck binding of course. Its the perfect base pattern for youre own modifications.<br />
As you can see on the shoulder part, I inserted a contrast fabric of a sheer animal printed chiffon.<br />
Enter: "fashionable"!<br />
Allso, I added a wide cuf-binding on the shoulders, instead of hemming the edges. That added a little length allso.<br />
I am very happy with the results! The Kimono tee has everything I want in a t-shirt. IAnd it allso looks great styled up whit a pair of skinny jeans and heels or boots!<br />

You buy it, draft it and cut it. But then it stoppes!... The pattern pieces lay there, untop of the intended fabric, and nothing happens. Nothing! For days and days.....<br />
That is what has happened to me! I had my heart set on a very <a href="http://compagnie-m.com/blog/tag/louisa-dress/" target="_blank">spoken-off</a> pattern for my daughter, but then suddenly all my sewing-mojo for this dress were gone! Wanished in thin air.....<br />
<br />
So my question to you guys is this;<br />
In times like these, what do you do? Do you simply abandon the whole thing? Or do you push through it? Because in the very beginning the idea of the pattern and product was quite good, and the chance that the exitement will be back when you get startet are quite relative? Or is it just a waste of time and effort?<br />
<br />
You see, my problem is that if I dont have fun while sewing, I get really upset. And things tend to go wrong whit everything! But on the other hand, the dress is in the back of my head everytime I enter my sewing room. It is giving me all kinds of guilty feelings, and I dont need that! I have enough on my plate!<br />
<br />
So how would you approach this? Would you just continue and get done whit it? Do nothing and keep feeling the overwhelming guilt? Or are you actually able to forget all about it for as long as it is necessary, and continue when you are ready?<br />
<br />
I think a big part of my problem is this: The "good girl"-syndrom! We all have it! The overwhelming feeling of having to please everyone all the time. To be honest, I`m not so good at it....<br />
Right now I am torn beetween sewing what I really want, or finnish something I started....<br />
I just wanna sew and be happy!<br />
<br />
Where are you guys on this?<br />
<br />

Infact, It feels like there has been a Lola-invation. I`m just fashionable late to the party. I must admit though, I did`nt reallly notice the dress when I saw it on <a href="http://www.victorypatterns.com/" target="_blank">Victory patterns webshop</a>. I am not shure why, but lets face it! It`s allways a bit more interesting when you se the patterns on "real" people. Am I right?..... (say yes...) A few of my other favourit Lolas were made by <a href="http://www.sleeksilhouette.com/2014/02/15/leather-accent-lola/" target="_blank">Kate</a> who made hers whit the coolest leather pockets, <a href="http://www.tillyandthebuttons.com/2014/02/lovin-lola.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed:+tillyandthebuttons/vdCa+(Tilly+and+the+Buttons)" target="_blank">Tillys version </a>was the first one I saw. And then there is <a href="http://www.tillyandthebuttons.com/2014/02/lovin-lola.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed:+tillyandthebuttons/vdCa+(Tilly+and+the+Buttons)" target="_blank">Katies version.</a><br />
All of these versions are so different from each other. Thats how versatile this pattern is!<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.victorypatterns.com/products/lola/" target="_blank">Lola dress</a> is allso very comfortable! AND you get to look nice at the same time! Who does`nt want comfortable and nice at the same time?? For me, comfy trumps nice almost any time. But whit the Lola dress, I dont even have to choose. Heck, I`ll even wear this to work! It`s a hacked version of the classic collage sweater, just longer so that you can wear it as a dress. I wear them whit thights and short or high boots.<br />
<br />
It has been a couple of weeks since I made this dress, but it was`nt before today that I got someone to catch it on camera. Pluss, we had lovely weather, and that allways helps.<br />
<br />
The fabric I bought at <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/StylishFabric" target="_blank">Stylishfabric.com </a>. The pattern calles for a knit fabric such as French terry knit or a knit fleece. I bought a french terry, but I was suprised when it arrived, because it was thinner than I imagined it would be. In fact, it was more like a regular jersey knit. BUT, the quality was great and very comfortable, so I was happy whit it.<br />
<br />

I am quite happy about the results! But be aware, and I read this about an other bloggers version of the Lola allso. The neckline binding is a little big. When my dress was finnished, the neckline was a bit slouchy and shapeless. After a few days I cut it off, shortened it and sewed it back on. And allso, I think I easly could have gone down a size on my regurlar size. This was a size 10. I think....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I really want to make an other one right now!<br />

I allways wanted to be the kind of mum who makes her kids costumes, and I did a few times, but nothing fancy schmansy, just the kind of "take something here and ad something there*-kind of costumes. Shaaaameeee.....<br />
But who would have known, that my firs machine sewn, home-made, thoroughly done costume was for my sister? My very grown up (at least her i.d. says so...) sister! But when I think about it, it really doesnt surprise me. Haha...<br />
I should allso ad to the story that she was going to an adult costume party (not the nasty kind, all though, I did hear some stories afterwords...).<br />
She wanted to go as Red Riding Hood, but was missing a long, red cape. So I searched the allmighty <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>, and found this great hooded cape pattern at <a href="http://www.fleecefun.com/red-riding-hood-cape-pattern.html" target="_blank">Fleecefun</a>. FOR FREE!<br />
The pattern was a print-at-home pdf, and had three different lenghts. We went for the longest.<br />
This was a really quick fix, as you dont really have to sew the edges when you sew whit fleece, because the edges won`t rip.<br />
I lined the hood whit a "picnic-checkered" pattern in red and white. This really put a great finnishing touch over it. And to close the cape, we added a white silky ribbon.<br />
<br />

Allthough, that doesnt mean that the temperatures wont go down to freezing point at night, and I still have had to clear some ice from my car windows a few times in the morning before going to work. BUT! It is sunny when we wake up, the garden is packed whit daffodils, birds are chirping and temperatures are rising as we are able to play outside whitout wearing mittens.<br />
It`s all good!<br />
<br />
I took my daughter outside to model this new outfit that I made for a very special birthday girl.<br />
Safe to say, she was very happy whit the gift. For the main fabric I used a french Terry from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/StylishFabric" target="_blank"><u>Stylish Fabric</u>.</a><br />
I had expected that the french terry would be a little thicker, but this reminded me a little more of regurlar jersey. But whit that said, it was a suuuper soft fabric, and the quality seems to be quite good!<br />
For the pocket and headband, I used some scraps I had from a swedish fabric shop. I have allready made quite a few items whit this fabric, like <a href="http://trollemors-hverdag.blogspot.no/2013/12/siblings-whit-new-shiny-wests.html" target="_blank">this vest</a> and <a href="http://trollemors-hverdag.blogspot.no/2014/02/in-between-sewing.html" target="_blank">this hat</a>.<br />
<br />
I have <a href="http://trollemors-hverdag.blogspot.no/2013/09/diy-knot-headbands.html" target="_blank">made headbands like these before</a>, but I came up whit a super easy way to make them, (even easier than these, can you imagine??) that is so quick, you`ll make a bunch in no time! I`ll make shure to make a tutorial for those later:)<br />
<br />
So there we were, outside in the morning spring, soaking up a few rays of sun. you know... just picking us some dafodils and listening to the birds tweeting around. Totally normal at 9 o`klock on a saturday morning.<br />

This one is super for everyone with sore necks and shoulders, cramps or even cold feet.<br />
For christmas I wanted to make something homemade for several of my family members.<br />
And I thouhgt about something that I made about a year ago. My husband and I are both acquaintanced whit the term of stiff and tiered neck. So I made a proto type of a heating pillow. You know, the kind you just throw in you`re microwave and heat a few minutes before you place it on the needed area.<br />
<br />
But as mentioned, this was just a proto type that I tossed together, so I had to come up with something a bit more clever and lasting. I made a picture series that shows you the step-by-step making of this clever little thing.<br />
I allso have to mention that the ones I gave away for chirstmas were VERY popular, and the word spread. I have made 15 of these, both as gifts and for paying customers. You should definitely give it a try.<br />
Just follow these steps:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
1) Find You`re fabric. Flannel is the best kind.<br />
Off course it`s extra fun if you have very nice fabric! I bought these flannels <a href="http://www.fabric.com/" target="_blank">here</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbMDJcGAHNAxiMhW_bsQbZ1yQ5rqWe6ROB3hyphenhyphenUd7EzQMT0eC-LPMpQ0xsdymkucVwffWeGtZ7V-ZFkZXYzl9ET9oe45xlnhEr7EvdAqQq4PVTAMqaIcpufsKzNzkUYilvA_QEaSgjnDMc/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbMDJcGAHNAxiMhW_bsQbZ1yQ5rqWe6ROB3hyphenhyphenUd7EzQMT0eC-LPMpQ0xsdymkucVwffWeGtZ7V-ZFkZXYzl9ET9oe45xlnhEr7EvdAqQq4PVTAMqaIcpufsKzNzkUYilvA_QEaSgjnDMc/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" height="320" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
2) Then you have to cut you`re fabric. Cut two same length pieces (find the measurements that fits you. Mine<br />
has about 60 x 12-15 cm ). Pin the pieces together and stitch using zigzag stitches, starting from one corner, and all the way around. Leave an opening at one of the short sides, enough to get a big spoon in. The gap right here is where you are going to insert the rice.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz42ceH34b_0CNYQstqzL9gOetvoUmsNticYlyKkTCzDQk4QibGlCUOo3FW1rRMO3ui2Sj_THRYhHbAkjfjLrrTc_FG1BCxl6yCq4eFSkU9tyH4-ozsXUkhQFwkw5IzGQPl6VmvXbfs9s/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz42ceH34b_0CNYQstqzL9gOetvoUmsNticYlyKkTCzDQk4QibGlCUOo3FW1rRMO3ui2Sj_THRYhHbAkjfjLrrTc_FG1BCxl6yCq4eFSkU9tyH4-ozsXUkhQFwkw5IzGQPl6VmvXbfs9s/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage2.jpg" height="212" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3) Then you topstitch all the way around, BUT still leave an opening at the shorter side. Howdie!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4-EOlJdFPRcmo7p0-2KbCw-153hZX9NdXJMST8PWMzFxzHCmYHWDaycWrnF1xYZZ60s_U7flBmze7CcXgDFagX1I0odMe2qVVo2QhWF_mjDI1EyAHQCgVrVlO5RI7TDzGBcWqdw5YMkE/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4-EOlJdFPRcmo7p0-2KbCw-153hZX9NdXJMST8PWMzFxzHCmYHWDaycWrnF1xYZZ60s_U7flBmze7CcXgDFagX1I0odMe2qVVo2QhWF_mjDI1EyAHQCgVrVlO5RI7TDzGBcWqdw5YMkE/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage3.jpg" height="320" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now it is time to fill up this sucker! You might want to mark where you want to stitch up the pockets of rice in advance so that you get an even result.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You`ll need quite a lot of rice. You can allso use other things like wheat or even cherrystones, I have heard. But I dont eat a whole lot of cherries.... Allso, I like the waight that rice gives. It makes just the right pressure.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><b>Here`s a tip for you: before you insert the rice, blend in a couple drops of lavender! It makes you feel like you are at the spa when you use you`re heatpillow :D</b></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><b><br /></b></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4) Pour the rice whit a spoon. Now, there will be some spilling. Just dont let it get to you...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Make sure that you dont add to much rice, neither to little. You`ll get the hang of it as you go.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After each "pocket" has enough rice, bring it over to an ironing board, or the edge of youre table. You want to do this so that the rice gathers on the bottom, before you pin it down where you measured it earlier. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now you are ready to sew it up. Just be carefull not to sew over <strike>alot of </strike>the rice. You <i>can </i>break the needle. But again, you`ll get the hang of it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

One of my favourit pieces was finnished almost 5 months ago, and I have`nt blogged about it! (what kind of blogger am I?.... dont answer that....)<br />
<br />
I made a second verison of <a href="https://www.colettepatterns.com/sewing/laurel" target="_blank">Colette Patterns Laurel dress</a>. My first was <a href="http://trollemors-hverdag.blogspot.no/2013/10/the-green-crepe-laurel-dress.html" target="_blank">this one</a>. It was ok, but not GREAT.<br />
So I wanted to make another one. This time whit the cute ruffled things on the arms.<br />
And allso, I made pockets. A dress neeeeeds pockets! I made them whit a contrast cotton fabric.<br />
I am very impressed whit this dress, as it has a great fit and gives a nice silhouette. I use it to work as well as more special occacions. Simple to style up or down whit different accecories and shoes.<br />
It is the most worn <a href="http://trollemors-hverdag.blogspot.no/search/label/Me-made" target="_blank">me-made </a>item in my wordrobe.<br />
But I had some fitting issues this time around on the Laurel, since the fabric is a bit more bulkier. And it has some stretch...<br />
So I put in a few extra darts on both the back and on the bust area. Allso the waist got some, and it gave the dress some lovely tucks.<br />

Along whit the grey suited Laurel dress, the Beignet skirt, allso from Colette patterns, is allso one of my biggest prides sewing-vise. You can read more of the <a href="http://trollemors-hverdag.blogspot.no/2014/02/my-colette-beignet-skirt.html" target="_blank">Beignet here.</a><br />
These two pieces are both made out of the same fabric. Unfortunately, now I am out.....Tonehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15418727568978024988noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5468116094403524734.post-14741369755296094042014-03-07T21:22:00.003+01:002014-03-07T21:22:25.157+01:00The perfect Lady Skater Dress with a twistBy now, I am pretty shure that "everyone" has heard, or even made <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/the-lady-skater-sewing-pattern-for-teens-and-women" target="_blank">Kitchy Coo`s famous Lady Skater dress.</a> As usuall I am late to the party... I overthink and over-process the whole thing EVERY TIME I have my mind set to make something. That means hours and hours of <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/" target="_blank">Pinteresting</a> for ideas, reading and searching other bloggers thoughts about the pattern, and looking at pictures of the finnished results.<br />
<br />
I really liked the pattern and the dress, but I am very self-conscious about my stomach-area (show me a woman who`s not!), therefore I had a problem whit the whole knit-dress-stomach-hugging thing.<br />
ALLSO! I have been wanting a wrap dress since FOREVER! And I thought that the Lady Skater pattern would be perfect for that kind of thing.... I just had to convert the bodice to a wrap... but how?<br />
I am not a fan of self drafting patterns. I am more like the "Hey! A perfect pattern that hundreds of people have allready tried out and aproved"-kind of gal`.<br />
Now that I allready had the LSD-pattern (wow... did that just spell LSD??...) I needed a pattern that someone else allready had tried out. That`s when I found <a href="http://www.sewastraightline.com/2013/10/lady-skater-all-wrapped-up.html" target="_blank">Sew a straight lines</a>` hacked version of the Lady Skater Dress, altered into a wrap dress! It was a wrap! Litteraly! Check out here super tutorial on how to make you`re skater dress to a faux wrap dress!<br />
<br />
It was all very easy peacy! The Lady Skater is pretty simple to sew up. Could that just be because I got a serger for my birthday a few weeks ago? Hahaha.. It was actually my first project ever on a serger.<br />
A little nerve-wrecked over the fact that I coul cut the fabric on the serger-knife. But It worked out just well.<br />
<br />
And now for some pictures...<br />

Actually, I have tried to make it up for weeks and weeks, actually, months! And finally, it was time!<br />
I think the main reason why I never got around to it was that I had my mine set on making this in a dark blue cord fabric, just like the one <a href="http://shonastitches.blogspot.no/2013/03/a-delicious-beignet.html" target="_blank">Shona</a> has made. I just love it!<br />
But I did`nt have any blue cord, so I had to find something in my stash.<br />
When I went to Oslo before Christmas, I brought home some sort of grey-ish wool-ish knitted suit fabric whit just a hint of horizontal stretch. It is actually quite nice! I made the <a href="https://www.colettepatterns.com/shop/laurel" target="_blank">Laurel dress</a> whit the same fabric.<br />
Unfortunately, I have not blogged it, even though it is like half a year since I made it! *bad blogger*<br />
<br />
Aaanywho....<br />
From drafting to cutting to finnished skirt, it took me about 3 weeks. Again, the 1 hour here and 1 hour there-concept. Wery famous for that....<br />
<br />
I decided to skip the whole lining, and just interface the inside whit a nice contrasting floral cotton.<br />
After I had cut all the fabric, I suddenly realized that the main fabric has some stretch and the facings has not, so I was very anxious about that. I even made fabric covered buttons, a whole 12 pcs! That is my first time, so I must say that was quite fun, and made a very nice detail on my skirt.<br />
The pockets are the same fabric as the facings, by the way.<br />
<br />
I asked my better half to take pictures, outside, during freezing wind. The pictures were quite bad, but it will have to do for now...<br />
<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really love my Beignet skirt, it has a great fit and i feel slimming and feminin in it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

And when I say big, it`s not necessarily BIG, but becuase of familiy and, well.... life, it can take up to weeks before I finish something. You know, the famous one hour here and one hour there. Like the <a href="https://www.colettepatterns.com/shop/beignet" target="_blank">Colette Beignet</a> skirt I JUST finnished! It took me about 3 weeks from drafting to finished results. Ohhhh!... I cant wait to show you! I am so happy whit the results! *squeeel*<br />
But, in between, for my own sanity, I need a quick fix. A hat is so quick and easy, it does`nt get better.<br />
I have made 4 of these, all for different receivers. My daughter is going to a classmates birthday party to day, and I made her this. A super girly baggy hat whit shade.<br />

If you read my <a href="http://trollemors-hverdag.blogspot.no/2014/01/thoughts-dreams-ideas-of-perfect.html" target="_blank">last post</a> about building a new wardrobe for spring/summer, than you`ll probably understand why Colette`s latest <a href="http://www.coletterie.com/wardrobe-architect/the-wardrobe-architect?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+coletterie+%28Coletterie%29" target="_blank">blog post</a> struck my good ol`sewing-nerve. More then twice (probably half of what I ever made) is a misfit or just a big FAIL! Either it be colours, shape, fabric or the quality of it.<br />
So this time I have decided to constructively plan my pattern bying and sewing. The thing here is to find the read thread that goes thrue all of the pieces. And I am to make pieces that I can match with each other.<br />
Why have`nt I thought about that before, you say?! Well, when it comes to pattern and fabric shopping, I am like a child in a candy store! I just cant think rationally.<br />
To quote Colette:<br />
<br />
<i>"<span style="background-color: white; color: #523a39; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;">Let’s think about form and function, the deeper implications of our choices, how clothing reflects each of our identities, and how we can sew more and buy less."</span></i><br />
<i><span style="background-color: white; color: #523a39; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;"><br /></span></i>
So now it is time to take a step back, and actually think a bit before I buy or make anything new.<br />
That is why I am hopping on this train that is about to leave the Colette Station, and take us on a trip of wardeobe-building and self-searching. I think, actually I <i>know</i> that this will be a very interesting and experiensing trip.<br />
<br />
All a board!!<br />
<br />
<br />

Yes, I`ll have to start early...<br />
Happy New Year to all my readers! Hope you all had a happy holiday.<br />
Suddenly january was knocking on my door, before I even got to think twice! Better let it in, I say. The quicker it gets in, the quicker it can leave, and make room for spring! Spriiiing... S P R I N G..springggg!<br />
Taste that word. Can you feel it? the tingling in your toes, and the delightfull sensation of hope? Hope that the degrees will creep up, small signs of summer in the pavement cracks (you know, flowers..), green leeves growing on trees and bushes. And the sun! Oh, the sun! Ray of sunshine beaming on my waaaaay to pale, freckled skin (us vikings....).<br />
Did I mention that it was only yesterday I threw out the christmas tree and decorations? *sigh*<br />
I guess it is still some time left before all this will come, but a girl can dream. Dream about a new wardrobe. Because a girl neeeeds some fine spring and summer clothes suitable for every occasion!<br />
That is why I want to get a heads up, and start early. If I know my self (and I do...) I`ll never finnish in time.<br />
So better hurry up!<br />
After watching other blogs and the allmighty <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>, my head is full of ideas and patterns. Here are some of the items on my to-do-list:<br />

I am shure I mentioned the beach somwhere up there, so I guess I would need a bathing suit then? If not for swimming, then absolutely to sunbathe in! <a href="http://cirque-du-bebe.blogspot.com.au/2013/08/bombshell-this.html" target="_blank">This amazing bombshell swimsuit </a>that Sophie over at Cirque du Bebe made is to die for! Read all about it!<br />
Shorts would allso be proper, if the temperatur let it! I am up for suggestions there....<br />
<br />
All the items I mentioned up here were very "hot" in 2013. It just took me a while to realize it. Haha...<br />
But I am shure, that even before I can get my hands on these patterns, there will be more recent temptations and wants for my spring/summer wardrobe.Tonehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15418727568978024988noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5468116094403524734.post-34644966287576729452013-12-29T20:24:00.001+01:002013-12-29T21:57:09.174+01:00Siblings whit new, shiny wests!Well hello everyone, and merry christmas! Although christmas is almost over, theres still a little bit left.<br />
A few weeks ago I won this great book in a blog contest. It was on the top of my wish-list. So emagine my happiness when I actually won it! I was very happy to say the least:)<br />
So the last couple of days I have been finding some me-time in front of the sewing machine, in my NEW sewing room! (jepp, we moved, and I got a whole sewing ROOM!).<br />
<br />
These patterns are great for sewing whit scraps. I got to use many different fabrics and patterns on these two vests.<br />

We do it <i>ALL </i>on Christmas eve, 24th of desember. And this year is no different!<br />
After I had my kids, who are now 3 and 6 years old, I realized what Christmas is all about! Offcourse, we all have our opinions about this, and what Christmas really is. But for my familiy it is about having the time to<br />
s l o w down (that is <u>way</u> harder then it sounds!), and to inhale all the smells and sounds that is Christmas.<br />
That may be the sound of little feet sneeking in the hallway at the break of dawn (yeees... my kids wake up early!), not realising them quickly enough for you to open your eyes and catch the little rascals before they jump you. Haha... Thats when it all starts: "Can we open our presents now? Can we? Can we?? Pretty pleaaaaaaase?!" When I grew up, my siblings and I always got to open one present each on the morning of the 24th. And I have continued this on to my children, because it is an eternity when you are 3 or 6 years old and you have to wait until after dinner to open youre presents, lying under the three and shouting out for you to be opened. Oh! I remember the feeling so well! The tingling sensation in my whole entire body, making it inpossible for me to wait patiently or even to sit still! My mom and grandmothers always said: "You`ll have to wait `til after we`ve done the dishes!" The dishes??! Who in the WORLD would want to do that to their own promising little ones? *Ahem..couch... I did...*<br />
<br />
Every other year we swap between my parents house and my mother-in-laws house. This year it is my mother-in-laws turn. We will get dressed, after having been attacked in bed, and go over to her house, where the smell of brunch and fireplace hits us as we walk in the door. She will always have some christmas-music on in the background. Usually <a href="http://tv.nrk.no/program/mkmf10000011/soelvguttene-synger-julen-inn" target="_blank">Sølvguttene</a> (The Silver Boys). Then we will sit down and enjoy a wonderfull meal.<br />
<br />
I must admit, even though I am a grown up now, I still look forward to christmas like I did when I was a child. But I have this little extra where I can enjoy the looks on my kids when they get their expectation fullfilled. That feeling cant be bought!<br />
<br />
Then, around five o`clock, we sit down for dinner to have a traditional, norwegian christmas meal; lam ribbs, pork ribbs, potatoes, greens, rutabaga, sauerkraut and red cabbage. The star of this meal is the lam ribbs. We wait for this all year! *water in my mouth*. Every year I get so suprised over how fast the dinner is over. I want it to last forever! But, the presents are calling, and we clean out dinner and prepear for desert.<br />
Right about now, the kids are climing the walls! So we`d better make it quick! Haha...<br />
The oldest child will find a place at the tree and read out the names on the presents, and sort them out to the lucky reciever. Then we watch patiently as every gift is opened. This might take a while...<br />
Then, the unwrapping is over, and as the kids play whit theire new toys, us adults sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the evening. Before you know it, its over. But then we have a few, or even several days of work, school and kindergarden. The Christmas holidays we spend whit family and friends, eat way to much food and cake! And if we are really lucky, we`ll have snow to play outside in! But so fare, its not looking good....<br />
<br />
<br />
So, what is you`re christmas traditions like? I would love to hear about it!<br />

Theres just so much girly-girl sewing a women can take! (or is there?... let me thing about that for while).<br />
Thats why it is so great to make something different in between every once in a while.<br />
<br />
I just recently got a customer request (yes, I do take orders!) of a pair of pirat pants for girl aged about 3-4.<br />
This fabric is from <a href="http://lillestoff.blogspot.no/2013/06/summer-forest-und-pirates.html" target="_blank">Lillestoff</a>. It is as always, great quality!<br />
<br />
The pattern for these pants are just a simple pattern that I have, after having tried out many different, just found very comfortable and easy to work whit. And just for the fun of it, I added a snazzy head band to go whit the pants!<br />
This should be an appropriate outfit for a girly-pirat, eyh?<br />
<br />

<br />
#1 is my sister. She is the most <i>unselfish</i> human being I have ever had the pleasure of knowig. For as long as I can remember, she has always been thinking of others wellbeing before her own. And she`s used this for those who are less fortunate. May it be human or animals.<br />
Oh, the things she has brought home! (animals, I mean!)<br />
Today, she is the co-leader of a volunteer organisation that helps rescue or find lost animals.<br />
If someone calls in a missing animal, or an observation of a lost animal, she will gather a group and go looking for them. And the volunteers are many! This organisation is her "baby", and she puts a great deal of pride in it. And people respect her for it! Me included.<br />
Now, when it comes to less unfortunate people, she is allso very active. Amongst many things she is an active member of the Red Cross. Beeing that Norway is a country of wild nature and raw winters, we have a lot of weather. And things happen in hard weather or tough nature. Again, there she is, my sister, to rescue you down from the mountain, or out of the dense forest whit a broken leg. It actually happens! A lot more often that you`ll think!<br />
<br />
#2 A new idea was born. The facbook group <a href="http://www.facebook.com/groups/1423929084488025/" target="_blank">"Varm et hjerte", or "Warm a heart"</a>, is a group where volunteer knitters can knit a warm scarf or hat, or both! and donate it to the homeless and drug addicts in the capital city of Norway, Oslo. I was recently there, and the things I saw.... The contrasts are huge from this big city to my hometown. The winter is upon us, and a great deal of people are out cold on the streets every day, trying to survive.<br />
The goal whit this group is to gather enough charity knitted items. All items must be sent to her. And when she goes back to Oslo in january, she can deliver off a big, warming lot of knitted hats and scarfs to a chosen central (a controlled central).<br />
<br />
Now, what do you think of this idea?? Great, huh? Everyone can join in, but this might be most relevant for those who live in Norway.<br />
So whit this, I encourage you to knit, knit, knit and give it to those less fortunate!<br />
<br />

And even though I dont have babies anymore, (mine are 6 and 3 now! Yikes!),<br />
I sometimes make the cutest little outfits. They are great to have around whenever someone announces a birth, or a birthday.<br />
This time I made baby boy pants. The fabrics are leftovers from a sweater I made for my son.<br />
It has the cutest little pockets whit a rhino and a turtle. And the waist has a high ribbing for great support for the little guy.<br />
This is the kind of pants I used to, and still make, for my son, because they are great for crawling and climbing (when older) and allso confortable.<br />
This one will be waiting in my drawer until someone claimes it. Ooooor... I get to use it my self :D<br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>(Furthest down the post you`ll find pictures of my blouse.)</i></span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
What is you`re first thought when you think of a pussy bow?<br />
<div>
After giving it a litte thought, this is what popped up in my head:</div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib7uhtuX_IkEBPsHCOix2nKbz91VjOeVL_XDcRydbeHqfQPnbwr9J44b6MSVW2EMD07-FweyVmOiYDNhq2dIrVCXojYjwLFLTclzX5wRPYyL7btgQ5myZ_5qPKr_tp4jd6xM87ntGbD-ap/s1600/toodles4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib7uhtuX_IkEBPsHCOix2nKbz91VjOeVL_XDcRydbeHqfQPnbwr9J44b6MSVW2EMD07-FweyVmOiYDNhq2dIrVCXojYjwLFLTclzX5wRPYyL7btgQ5myZ_5qPKr_tp4jd6xM87ntGbD-ap/s1600/toodles4.jpg" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But obviously, thats not what we want in a pussy bow blouse...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I decided pretty acutely that I wanted, no, infact <b style="font-style: italic;">needed </b>a pussy bow blouse. </div>
<div>
I had seen them around for quite som time, but whit just like <a href="http://trollemors-hverdag.blogspot.no/2013/10/the-green-crepe-laurel-dress.html" target="_blank">my new Laurel Dress</a>, it did`nt feel right to me.</div>
<div>
But our minds works in mysterious ways, `cause suddenly I was convinced!</div>
<div>
So I startet to trace pictures on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>, and the options are allmost countless. I knew I had to find some great inspirational pictures, because I did`nt have any patterns available. </div>
<div>
These pictures from Salme Patterns <a href="http://www.salme-sewing-patterns.com/collections/womens-patterns/products/digital-sewing-pattern-pussy-bow-top" target="_blank">here</a> and Tilly And The Buttons <a href="http://www.tillyandthebuttons.com/2012/08/blouse-progress-or-not.html" target="_blank">here</a> are the pictures closest to what I wanted. </div>
<div>
Since I`ve recently made Colette Patterns Laurel Dress, and I was familiar to the arm-pattern there, I used <a href="http://www.colettepatterns.com/shop/laurel" target="_blank">The Laurel </a>patterns as a start for the bodice and arms.</div>
<div>

<i>My inspirational board.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, in my search for "How to make a pussy bow blouse-tutorial", the results were poor. I mostly used the pictures I have over my sewing machine. It was very forward really, but at the same time I felt like I needed a little assistens. But mostly I was on my own. I sort of figured it out my self, but for the interest of others in the search of a "How to make a pussy bow blouse-tutorial", I decided to take pictures of the process as I went.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A good start is to find a pattern that you know works as a bodice and arms. The only differens really, is that instead of a collor, you make a long tie to attatch to the neck.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I desided to open the bodice right at the front. If you take a look at <a href="http://www.salme-sewing-patterns.com/collections/womens-patterns/products/digital-sewing-pattern-pussy-bow-top" target="_blank">Salmes Pussy bow blouse</a>, you se what I mean. Allso I took the idea from Tilly, to ruche the bodice in the front. Like she did <a href="http://www.tillyandthebuttons.com/2012/08/blouse-progress-or-not.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, to my tutorial (a simple one...):</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrQFGpUkYLSMpwDGdVAdXjxW00P-3evqhDUTVqoSph8LswvTAK1Y6IGwVuS5xIaiG2pb3zRYUHE4TAv2dzMEj_ZqxFFBbYaSG7ncLUJGPUHQraJ5oaqn_qApPcIaQ_RhyphenhyphenfZGrni87Womw/s1600/20131003_202200.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrQFGpUkYLSMpwDGdVAdXjxW00P-3evqhDUTVqoSph8LswvTAK1Y6IGwVuS5xIaiG2pb3zRYUHE4TAv2dzMEj_ZqxFFBbYaSG7ncLUJGPUHQraJ5oaqn_qApPcIaQ_RhyphenhyphenfZGrni87Womw/s640/20131003_202200.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First I cut two pieces for the "tie". I started measuring from the middle of the neck. Measure all the way to the front. Make shure that you measure close along the neck opening. Then you add the length of the tie (as long as you want it. All in all, mine was about 70 cm long (make two) and about 8 cm wide. Remember to make it long enouch to make a bow, if that is what you want! Mine was just to short...)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then stitch the two pieces together at their ends, so that you have 2 x 70 cm = 140 cm tie. Match the center of the tie to the center of the neckline, and pin it down. The (terrible lined) red in the picture is were I tried to show you where I pinned mine down. Pin the tie right side facing the right side of the blouse.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then you stitch it down whit you`re machine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<u>(But dont stitch all the way to the end of the tie, only around the neclkline!)</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuyOAc3-vO6iC-LyCKY6M1G7tbj6XUKSFYXAdVwA8xV9nSZ2B5ZU69oFF7_P6yCZSjZS0rvGmxAzFfYqCfFnIENmghl3RpsfsGTAbvTfdTOToDlSHxcKldt-auVX0ojlJ7aIQF4jd3Qmo/w374-h210-p-no/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuyOAc3-vO6iC-LyCKY6M1G7tbj6XUKSFYXAdVwA8xV9nSZ2B5ZU69oFF7_P6yCZSjZS0rvGmxAzFfYqCfFnIENmghl3RpsfsGTAbvTfdTOToDlSHxcKldt-auVX0ojlJ7aIQF4jd3Qmo/w374-h210-p-no/" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When you are done whit the stitching, fold the tie over (double it), and tuck it under once more so that the raw edge is hidden. Pin it down neatly. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHHk1zeetQC3MPTR_kW1_XNBXSAUpMezLTYpN08d5XIagX9oPQtRUIhn-Mt11hAytVzo_rqx9hcEMgiXQNSLcezlEasHc_bBN2UPce9J8euWEqJ277jTizB4PEN-FatWBRuskMJGLMXYY/w907-h510-no/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHHk1zeetQC3MPTR_kW1_XNBXSAUpMezLTYpN08d5XIagX9oPQtRUIhn-Mt11hAytVzo_rqx9hcEMgiXQNSLcezlEasHc_bBN2UPce9J8euWEqJ277jTizB4PEN-FatWBRuskMJGLMXYY/w907-h510-no/" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thats right!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0xX5NSZsvmeOUNFnPu9pt0zUw8oVkwApSQEfLHWkqMErqXaFt9xXilSua-2qugWNMRyi5pFs1aPmbWhtNT5e7V7qq2CMNo14A7GRTawa_ebqXWBeHd0xzQEfOx4CYY0g7tgH9Z995eis/w287-h510-no/20131003_205416.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0xX5NSZsvmeOUNFnPu9pt0zUw8oVkwApSQEfLHWkqMErqXaFt9xXilSua-2qugWNMRyi5pFs1aPmbWhtNT5e7V7qq2CMNo14A7GRTawa_ebqXWBeHd0xzQEfOx4CYY0g7tgH9Z995eis/w287-h510-no/20131003_205416.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, turn you`re work and place it under you`re needle. It is time for some "stitchin` in the ditch". But this time, start out at one end of the tie, while you tuck the raw edges inside, (see picture below) hiding them. Stitch at the outer edge of the tie, following all the way up to where the neckline starts. Here starts the "stitchin`in the ditch". Make shure you sew down the fold on the backside of the blouse as well. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Follow the neckline all the way around, and to the other end of the tie.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When you`re finnished, press everything whit you`r iron. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thats is! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And now for my end results:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
